Support Community Folk Art Center on #GivingTuesday 2020

Greetings from the Community Folk Art Center!

The Community Folk Art Center (CFAC) is asking for your support during a time of so much uncertainty for many organizations but particularly arts organizations that have been impacted by the pandemic, COVID-19.

In celebration of Giving Tuesday 2020, we are reaching out for support for the development of virtual community programs and the Creative Arts Academy which seeks to provide cultural experiences and creative instruction in performing and visual arts while simultaneously supporting teaching artists and practitioners.

Who We Are
For more than 48 years, Community Folk Art Center has been the only African Diaspora arts organization in the city of Syracuse, providing a vibrant cultural and artistic hub committed to the promotion and development of local and emerging artists. Our mission is to exalt cultural and artistic pluralism in the area, and we accomplish this by connecting directly with community members through public programs such as exhibitions, studio art classes, film screenings, performing arts, and a youth Creative Arts Academy. However, with the onset of the pandemic, we have had to close our space to the public.

What We’re Doing
Over the past few months, Community Folk Art Center staff have worked diligently to create innovative ways to engage the community. We are grateful for the incredible response we have received for our call for artists who are exhibiting in our new online gallery. We are also excited to bring more live-streamed musical and theater performances, virtual art classes, and cultural workshops for all ages. Yet, there is more work to be done and we need your financial support. Make the now count.
