Syracuse Fire Department Responds to Fire on City’s North Side, Minor Injuries Reported

Syracuse, N.Y. – Syracuse firefighters were called to 108 Josephine Street shortly before 2:00pm for a reported house fire.  The first units were on scene in under 3 minutes, and found a fire in the rear of the two-story wood frame structure.  Crews immediately began working to extinguish the flames while simultaneously searching for trapped occupants.

3 people were home at the time of the fire, but were able to escape.  One civilian and one firefighter both suffered minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.  The damage to the house was significant, and the American Red Cross will be assisting the residents with temporary shelter and other needs. National Grid and AMR also responded to the scene.  The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
