Syracuse firefighters battle house fire in the valley section of the city

Syracuse, N.Y. – At approximately 6:23 AM on July 12, 2022, Syracuse Firefighters responded to a structure fire at 110 Crafton Avenue, located in the south valley section of the city. The fire was reported by a citizen who was actively performing remodeling work inside of the structure.

The first arriving fire crew on scene from Station 18 reported a 2-story wood frame residential structure with smoke coming from the eaves. Engine 18 began an aggressive interior attack and began extinguishing the fire which produced high levels of heat and toxic gases which spread throughout the home.

As the fire was being extinguished, separate rescue crews conducted searches of the structure for any possible trapped occupants which turned up negative. The intensity of the fire burned holes in the floor and the stairway as firefighters battled the fire.

All occupants of the home self-evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival and there were no working smoke detectors located in the home at the time of the fire. The fire was extinguished in approximately 20 minutes. No injuries were reported.

The Syracuse Police, National Grid and AMR also responded to the fire scene. Members of the Syracuse Fire Department Investigation Bureau are currently working to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
