Syracuse March for Justice Scheduled for 4:00 pm Today at Hendricks Chapel: Group plans on March to Downtown Syracuse Justice Center for die-in

Syracuse University and community members are scheduled to Rally, Protest and March beginning 4 pm at Hendricks Chapel on campus. The protest is billed as an invitation to,” Students, faculty, staff, community leaders, activists, and all others are invited to stand in solidarity against all forms of oppression and exploitation.”

Event Plans:
4:00 pm – Rally starts on steps of Hendricks Chapel at SU
4:30 pm – Die-in at Schine
5:00 pm – At corner of Waverly and University Ave, march begins to “Justice” Center
5:30 pm – Rally outside of the “Justice Center” (State Street and East Jefferson)

There will be a die-in for 4.5 minutes to represent the four and a half hours that Mike Brown’s lifeless body sat in the streets of Ferguson.

Then they’ll regroup and  march in solidarity to the “Justice” Center and Public Safety Building of Syracuse where they plan to demand justice for local victims of brutality according to the group, “at the hands of the police and jailers (people like Lucinda Batts, Chuniece Patterson, Raul Pinet Jr., Alonzo Grant, Elijah Johnson, and Reverend Dexter).”

Participants are asked to, “Please bring signs, noise-makers, but most importantly, bring your voices, your cries, and your concerns.”
