Pop Up Site had special incentives for Destiny shoppers, designed to bring awareness to getting the Covid-19 Vaccine
In the spacious Canyon area of Destiny USA made a special announcement in support of vaccines to fight COVID-19. To make vaccines more accessible to the community, Destiny USA partnered with New York State and Wegmans Pharmacy to provide a FREE pop-up Johnson & Johnson vaccine clinic this weekend. Mall employees, guests, and community members are encouraged to utilize the clinic to get vaccinated. Walkups were accepted. Members of the public had already begun lining up, receiving their shot before the media arrived.
In comments to those gathered Mayor Walsh emphasized the importance to our community to get your Covid-19 shot. Walsh was joined by Rita M. Paniagua of the Syracuse Common Councilor she serves At-Large. Ms. Paniagua spoke in Spanish and English as local efforts have been increased due to low vaccination rates in some neighborhoods. It has been noted in recent days that one zip code, 13204 has lowest numbers of people vaccinated in the city of Syracuse. The Westside and Far Westside, including a large Spanish speaking population and the Tipperary Hill neighborhood are not getting vaccinated.
Due to the visibility of the Pop-up vaccination site at Destiny, people had already made this decision to receive their vaccination on the spot. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine was administered to participants.
The dates and times of the vaccine event at Destiny were held Friday May 7th 11am- 5 pm & Saturday May 8th 10:30 – 4:30 pm
In addition, Destiny USA offered discounts and special offers to individuals who have been vaccinated on location, in an effort to incentivize New Yorkers to receive their COVID vaccine. Individuals with DUSA on their vaccine cards can scan a QR code directing guests to a landing page on the Destiny USA website with a list of participating stores and special offers.
