Sunnycrest Park Will Launch New FootGolf Course, Opening June 15
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The City of Syracuse Department of Parks, Recreation, and Youth Programs will open a FootGolf course, its latest asset at Sunnycrest Park on Thursday, June 15.
“The Syracuse Department of Parks and Recreation is always seeking new activities for families to enjoy and we have found a new opportunity with FootGolf,” said Lazarus Sims, Commissioner of Parks, Recreation, and Youth Programs. “We hope everyone will come and try the latest addition to the great facilities we have at Sunnycrest Park.”
“It’s a great way to add a new activity to a public facility so more people than just the traditional golfer can enjoy the golf course,” said Laura Balestrini, spokesperson for the American FootGolf league.
FootGolf is a unique, new sport with increasing popularity across the country. A hybrid between golf and soccer, players wear traditional golf attire and cleats to move a soccer ball into a large hole with as few kicks as possible. Fees for FootGolf are the same as traditional golf: $6 for adults, $3 for those under 17 and over 55.
