Syracuse Police Arrest Suspect in Tyree Lawson Homicide Investigation

September 19th, 2020, at 7:51 P.M., Syracuse Police Officers responded to 351 Oakwood Avenue, in regards to a shooting with injuries call. Upon arrival, Officers located a victim inside the residence, identified as Tyree Lawson, 31. It was evident that he had been shot. Lawson was subsequently transported to University Hospital by AMR paramedics. He was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter, marking the City of Syracuse’s 24th homicide victim of 2020.

An investigation was commenced by CID Detectives, where numerous people were interviewed, and an extensive neighborhood and citywide canvass was conducted. In addition, several search warrants were executed, and evidence recovered was processed and thoroughly analyzed. As a result of the above efforts, a suspect was identified as Mysean Griswold, 21.

On August 18th, 2021 Griswold was taken into custody at NYS Parole. He was later lodged in the Onondaga County Justice Center without incident. Mysean Griswold was charged with the following crimes; One count of Murder in the Second Degree, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.
