Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler and Mayor Ben Walsh were available to address the two gun homicides that occurred this weekend. This occurred Sunday, April 22, 1:30 p.m. at the Corner of Cortland Avenue and Midland Avenue
Mayor Walsh issued the following statement Sunday afternoon:
“We have neighborhoods in our city suffering under the threat of gun violence, and we cannot look away. This condition affects us all. I’m deeply saddened by the loss of two young men this weekend and extend my condolences to their families and far too many families whose lives have been changed by gun violence,” Mayor Walsh said.
“Chief Fowler and I are working together and we are also in close contact with the groups and individuals who are on the front lines of this crisis. The issues are complex and difficult to overcome, but we will never stop trying. Guns and violence aren’t the answer to the tensions and challenges that confront too many of our young people.”
