Syracuse Police Department Make an Arrest in W. LaFayette Ave. Homicide

On Tuesday, May 21st, 2019 at 4:28 P.M., Officers responded to the 100 block of W. LaFayette Ave., after receiving 9-1-1 calls for shots fired.  When Officers arrived, they located several casings in the area.  A short time later, a 43, male victim was transported in a private vehicle to Upstate Hospital.

On May 25th,2019, the victim, identified as Shondell Days, 43, of Syracuse succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Upstate Hospital.

The incident was investigated by Detectives from the Syracuse Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. As a result of that investigation, a suspect, Ernest Johnson, 42, was arrested on May 31st, 2019 and charged with Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. Johnson was lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center after his arrest.
