Syracuse, NY. The Syracuse Police Department is proud to announce the graduation of four new teams from the 2019 Patrol and Tracking Canine School. The graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019, 10:00am, at Leavenworth Park, 120 Wilkinson Street, Syracuse. The ceremony is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.
The Patrol and Tracking School consists of nine weeks of vigorous training for both the handlers and their canine partners. The teams learn obedience, tracking, building searches, area searches and suspect apprehension.
Two teams are from the Syracuse Police Department and two teams are from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. All four teams will be graduating from the school, which began on April 15th, 2019.
The 2019 Patrol and Tracking School is instructed by Syracuse Police Sgt. Joseph Szakacs, Syracuse Police Officer Charles Quick, and Apprenticing K9 Instructor Wayne County Sherriff Sgt. Joseph Roeland. Wayne County Undersheriff Jeff Fosdick and Wayne County Lt. Joseph Croft will also be in attendance.
