Syracuse Police Investigate an Officer Stabbed in the Neck on Burglary Call (Updated 3/16)

On Sunday March 15, at around 5:34 P.M., Officers responded to a multi-unit apartment complex in the 200 block of Crippen Ave. for a burglary in progress type call. Upon arrival, Officers encountered a male, Darrell Mobley, 48, who was acting erratic and armed with a knife. At one point during the encounter, Mobley stabbed an Officer in the neck.

That Officer fired his gun multiple times with at least one round striking Mobley. The Officer was then transported to Upstate Hospital by other Police Officers on scene. The Officer has since been released from the hospital, and a full recovery is expected.

Mobley was also transported to Upstate Hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries. The investigation is active and ongoing; anyone with information is asked to call the Syracuse Police Department at (315) 442-5222. ​
