Syracuse Police Investigate Two Overnight Stabbings

Brighton Ave. Stabbing Investigated- Saturday, August 29th, 2020, at around 11:55 P.M., Officers responded to an address in the 200 block of W. Brighton Ave. for a stabbing complaint. At around the same time, the victim, a 36-year-old male, was transported to Upstate Hospital by private vehicle with a stab wound to the chest. The victim is expected to survive. Suspect information was developed, and the suspect, Edward Johnson, 62, was located at the incident location. As a result of the investigation, Johnson was arrested and charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. Johnson was lodged at the Justice Center.

Syracuse Police Respond to Domestic Stabbing Incident- Sunday, August 30th, 2020, at around 12:34 A.M., Officers responded to an address in the 600 block of N. Salina St. for a stabbing call. Upon arrival, Officers located Nathaniel Williams, 44, who had been stabbed in the arm. The male was transported to Upstate Hospital for treatment.

The investigation revealed that a domestic dispute took place between Williams and his intimate partner, Shontae Cannon, 32. During the dispute, Williams damaged property in the residence and Cannon stabbed Williams. There was a child present in the residence during the dispute.

As a result, Williams was charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Cannon was charged with Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Both individuals were eventually taken to the Justice Center.
