On July 24, 2019 at approximately 10:30 p.m. several Officers responded to the 200 block of Seward Street for a reported suspicious person with a weapon.  When Officers arrived they spoke to the female victim, who stated that her ex-boyfriend, Steven Washington, 37, of Syracuse, had pointed a gun at the vehicle she and her three children ages 5, 8, and 12 had occupied.  Officers learned that Washington had later entered 221 Seward Street.  Washington was observed inside that residence by Officers.  Officers, which included members of the K-9 Unit eventually searched that residence and recovered a loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun.

Washington was ultimately arrested on criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a firearm, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.  Washington was subsequently lodge at the Justice Center.
