Syracuse Police Respond to S. Geddes St Disturbance

On Wednesday, October 6th, 2021, at around 2:43 P.M., Officers responded to 1101 S. Geddes Street for a stabbing/disturbance call. Upon arrival, Officers located a 44-year-old female who was stabbed in the back. The victim was transported to Upstate Hospital, where she is expected to survive.

The investigation revealed that a 17-year-old female stabbed the victim during a dispute at the location. The 17-year-old female was arrested and charged with Assault in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.  The 17-year-old was taken to HillBrook Detention Center.

This was a chaotic scene with a large group of individuals causing a disturbance that involved several sub-incidents. A female, Kiara Banner, 27, was arrested and charged with Menacing in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree for holding a knife and menacing a crowd during the disturbance.  Josiah James, 43, and Randall Clark, 20, were both arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest for their actions during the disturbance. These arrestees were all released on appearance tickets.

An Officer did suffer a laceration to the head while making an arrest when his head struck the ground.  As mentioned earlier, this was a large, chaotic scene, with multiple people being aggressive and threatening towards Officers.  Multiple police units had to respond to solve this case and make the area safe.
