City Pools Scheduled to Open June 30 and 53 Additional Lifeguards Need to be Hired
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The City of Syracuse is seeking qualified local residents to serve as lifeguards for pools during the summer months.
“Lifeguards are an important asset in our city parks,” said Baye Muhammad, Commissioner of Parks, Recreation, and Youth Programs. “They have a great deal of responsibility and we take pride in the successful men and women we hire for these positions.”
Currently, the City of Syracuse needs to hire 53 additional lifeguards to fill chairs at pools this summer. Candidates should be certified lifeguards. The starting salary is $9.50 per hour. Lifeguards will be employed seasonally for approximately eight weeks. Work hours will be from Noon to 7:30 PM, weekdays and weekends. Lifeguards will be expected to work 36 hours per week.
