The Alliance Network Has Announced Their Slate of Endorsed Candidates

List includes; Cherylene “Twiggy” Billue, Emad Rahim, Vernon Williams and Rita Paniagua

The Alliance Network is a The Alliance Network is a Multi-Ethnic Public Issues Advocacy Group.  In 1996, a group of local leaders, business people, activists, and other concerned citizens began meeting with the purpose of developing a strategic plan to begin working on the social, economic, health, youth and political issues that affect our community.

According to the organization statement of purpose, “Our mission is to improve the quality of life in Central New York Community politically, socio-economically, educationally and spiritually.  We seek to improve the conditions of our neighborhoods physically as well as mentally, recognizing that the health and viability of the City of Syracuse rests in its neighborhoods and communities.”

On Monday, June 17th, 2019 the Alliance Network endorsed candidates , “that go above and beyond the call of duty and embody the mission of the Alliance Network”  for the following offices:

  • Cherylene “Twiggy” Billue for Syracuse City School District Commissioner of Education
  • Rita Paniagua for Syracuse Common Council at Large
  • Vernon Williams for Onondaga County Legislature 16th District
  • Emad Rahim for Syracuse Common Council 3rd District

The Alliance Network has worked diligently over the past 22 years to work with candidates regardless of their party line to ensure they know the issues that plague our community which included gun violence, poverty, employment and housing. The Alliance Network is always looking to identify people who would like to run or are currently running for various offices that will be effective for creating change for our communities.
