(Syracuse, NY) The Gifford Foundation and Allyn Foundation are jointly seeking nominations for the Kathy Goldfarb-Findling Leadership Award (“The Kathy”), an award given to a Central New York nonprofit professional who is creative, collaborative and embraces change. In addition to the public honor, “The Kathy” is accompanied by a $3,000 cash award intended for the recipient’s personal use.
The deadline for nominations is May 31 – for guidelines and nomination forms go to http://www.giffordfoundation.org/the-kathy-goldfarb-findling-leadership-award/.
Named in honor of Gifford’s late executive director, who also served as director of strategic services for the Allyn Foundation, “the Kathy” is given periodically to the not-for-profit professional who best exemplifies Ms. Goldfarb-Findling’s approach to leadership:
• to be nimble and creative;
• to encourage lifelong learning;
• to embrace leaps of faith and not fear failure;
• to work “with” not do “for;”
• to fully engage in collaborative approaches –
• to at all times believe passionately in the power of change and personal growth.
Recipients of previous “Kathy” awards are Michael Melara, executive director of Catholic Charities; Mary Ellen Clausen, founding executive director of Ophelia’s Place; Randi Bregman, executive director of Vera House and Mary Beth Frey, executive director of the Samaritan Center. Announcement of the 2014 “Kathy” honoree will be announced in the fall.
