Community Collaboration Deemed A Success!
Syracuse, NY – The New Dunbar Center held its’ Inaugural Dunbar Legacy Ball to celebrate the legacy and renewed viability of the Dunbar Center on Sunday, April 28, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The event occurred at 1453 S. State Street, the physical location of the Dunbar Center, which opened it’s doors to the Syracuse Community more than 90 years ago.
The event was made possible as part of a collaborative effort between Syracuse Community Health Center (SCHC, Inc.) and the Dunbar Center Board of Directors initiated when SCHC, Inc., President and CEO, Dr. Ruben P. Cowart was made aware of the financial debt the Dunbar Center faced by Dunbar Center’s Chairman of the Board, Mr. Steve Williams.
More than 120 individuals were in attendance at the event, filling to capacity the elegantly transformed Dunbar Center gymnasium.
Legacy Ball Leadership Award Honorees for the evening were Dr. Saundra A. Barnett-Reyes, Ms. Vickie Brackens, ChFC, Dr. Marriette Pollard, former Executive Director of the Dunbar Center and Dr. Diane Green-El, M.B.A., F.A.A. P. who is currently a practicing pediatrician at Syracuse Community Health Center, also providing leadership, administrative and medical services at Syracuse Community Health Center for more than 32 years. Legacy Award Honorees shared heart-felt, cherished memories of the Dunbar Center and the impact of the organization on the Syracuse Community.
SCHC Companies, Inc. was Corporate Strategic sponsor for the evening. The Gold Sponsor for the event was the United Postal Service, Inc.
