The Syracuse Police Investigate a South Salina Street Homicide: Victim Identified


The Syracuse Police Department is investigating a homicide on S. Salina St. On Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at about 9:05 P.M., the Syracuse Police Department responded to 2935 S. Salina St for a call of shots fired. Upon their arrival, they found a male lying in the hallway of the apartment building, who had been shot at least once in the upper part of his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Kawon Chavis, 36 years of age, of Syracuse. There is no suspect information at this time.

This investigation is on its early stages, and is very active and ongoing. Further information will be released when it becomes available.
