Three Syracuse Police Officers Save a Man Suffering from Mental Distress on Rooftop

On Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020, at around 2:34 P.M., Officers Joseph Tolone, James Pastorello, and Mitch Anthony responded to the 600 block of Genant Drive for reports of a male in mental distress on top of an abandoned building in the area. When Officers arrived, they located a 50’s male on top of a roof.

The male reported that he was in distress and threatened self-harm. Officer Tolone was able to make contact with the male over the phone.  Simultaneously, Officers Anthony and Pastorello climbed to the roof of the building to engage the male. Officer Tolone continued to speak with the male in de-escalating conversation for an extended period of time. After a lengthy talk, the male agreed not to harm himself and go with Officers to the hospital.

The male was escorted safely off the building and taken for treatment. Job well done by Officers Joseph Tolone, James Pastorello, and Mitch Anthony.
