SYRACUSE, N.Y. —Tomorrow’s Neighborhoods Today (TNT) Southside presents its inaugural Gala in the Garden in association with Soul A La Carte, on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Brady Farm located at 150 Ford Avenue from 6 to 9 p.m.
An unforgettable evening of dining, live music, and socializing alongside Onondaga Creek is planned for the Gala. The four-course meal will feature Southern fusion inspired cuisine and will be prepared and served by a local minority-owned catering business, Soul A La Carte. The menu will consist of many ingredients grown directly from the Brady Farm, the result of a project to provide access to fresh, healthy and organic locally grown food to the community.
This inaugural event is the first major fundraiser held by TNT Southside organized to raise funds for its community initiatives. The organization has grown tremendously in the past year. From volunteers to task forces, what was once a dormant group of local residents is now a model for how to involve residents in an urban neighborhood. The group is full of passionate and dedicated neighbors looking to invest their energy and resources to do a great deal of work to improve the quality of life on the Southside.
Lou Carol Franklin, a lifelong neighborhood resident and the event committee co-chair stated, “We continue to believe that what we once held dear will be the commitment of each person working alongside each other to cultivate Syracuse’s Southside into an ever growing thriving and cohesive community.”
During the social event, five recipients will be honored for their contributions to the community. The 2017 inaugural award recipients are:
- Community Hero Award: Geneva Hayden and Charles Pierce-El
- Public Service Award: Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler
- Community Non-Profit Award: Syracuse Model Neighborhood Corporation
- Community Business Award: Dunk & Bright Furniture
While seating is limited, individual tickets are $65.00 and can be purchased online via Eventbrite (https://gala-in-the-garden.eventbrite.com). The rain date for the event will be Sunday, September 10, 2017.
