Syracuse, NY – Dana Balter, Democratic nominee for New York’s 24th Congressional District, received the endorsement of United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) Region 9. UAW Region 9 members work in automotive, aerospace and steel industries. Members make doors, quarter panels, hoods, fenders and other stamped parts for Ford F-150, 250 and 350 trucks, Flex, Edge, Focus, Econoline vehicles, and for Lincoln MKX and MKTs. Members also build the V-22 Osprey troop transport helicopter and the Chinook medium-lift helicopter at the Boeing facility in Philadelphia.
“The UAW has a long history of supporting the rights of working men and women throughout this nation,” said Mark Barbee, UAW International Rep. “We’ve been on the frontlines fighting to protect democratic cornerstones like Civil and Human Rights, social security, Medicare, healthcare, education, and a living wage. Our members and their families in communities of the 24th congressional district, need support in Washington now more than ever. Dana Balter is our choice to protect the cornerstones of our democracy.”
“Earning the support of the hard working people of UAW Region 9 is a tremendous honor,” said Dana Balter. “UAW members have been on the forefront of the labor movement, fighting to secure good working conditions, fair wages, and quality education and healthcare for all workers. Together we will build on these successes and ensure that all working families in our district have the dignity and access they need to thrive.”
This joins a growing list of endorsements including 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, UNITEHERE!, NYSUT, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Working Families Party, and over 15 local elected officials. In addition, Balter was added to the DCCC’s Red to Blue Program.
