Keeping with tradition, 34 businesses have transformed their ground-floor windows into engaging winter and holiday scenes to celebrate the season and vie for prizes in the Downtown Committee’s 5th Annual Window Wonderland Contest. The promotion was designed to boost holiday spirit, entertain visitors and attract new customers to experience Downtown’s variety of retail, restaurant and cultural offerings.
The contest, a perfect opportunity to spend some “socially-distanced” outdoor time with family and friends, continues through Saturday, January 2. A link to vote for your favorite displays – as well as photos – is posted here , on DowntownSyracuse.com’s Holiday Traditions page and will be updated as more photos are received. The link is also accessible via smartphones, and QR codes displayed at participating businesses take voters directly to the link.
Winning displays will be announced on Monday, January 4. The business featuring the display that earns the most votes will receive a grand prize of $500, second place will be awarded $250, and third place will fetch $100. A list of all participating businesses is provided at this link, and a map is accompanying this media advisory.
*With Plaid Friday and Small Business Saturday traditionally kicking off the shopping season, the Downtown Committee’s Marketing & Communications team compiles a special holiday newsletter sent out every Monday afternoon. This features a rundown of all the special events (in person and virtual), sales and discounts that businesses are offering, and traditions that Downtown Syracuse is known for. Community members are encouraged to send a note to mail@DowntownSyracuse.com to subscribe. Click Here to read the most recent edition of the newsletter.
