Town of Van Buren, New York – The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office reports that a wanted felon is in custody after fleeing from deputies Thursday afternoon in the Town of Van Buren.
On July 6th, at approximately 9:15 pm, the Nicholasville Police Department in Kentucky was dispatched to the Homeplace Inn for an injured person. Upon the arrival of officers, they discovered the clerk at the business had been shot. She was conscious and alert and was able to give officers some basic information. Based on the investigation and her statement, the Nicholasville Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Alfredo Angel Delgado (29) a resident of Frankfort, for the charges of assault in the 1st degree. Delgado was last seen driving a grey 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, KY LIC/584-ZWX. He fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
On July 7th, deputies received information from the Nicholasville Police Department that Delgado has family in the Town of Van Buren and was possibly enroute to the area. At approximately 1:50 pm, deputies spotted Delgado operating the Malibu on Interstate Island Road where they attempted to stop the vehicle. Delgado refused to stop and began to flee the area. Deputies pursued the vehicle and were able to deploy stop sticks, which disabled Delgado’s vehicle as it entered the on-ramp to 690 eastbound from Jones Road. Delgado was subsequently taken into custody without further incident.
Delgado is currently being held in the Justice Center and is awaiting extradition proceedings.
