Anheuser-Busch Donates $3,000 to SCSD Educational Foundation to Support Wladis Hat and Glove Giveaway

The Wladis Law Firm and Wladis Companies, Inc. donates thousands of hats and gloves to Syracuse City School District students in grades Pre-K through 8 as part of their annual hat and glove giveaway. This year will mark the 20th anniversary of the giveaway and will be bolstered by a generous donation of $3,000 from Anheuser-Busch.

“We are pleased to support the Hat and Glove Giveaway to help the local community. Efforts like this reflect our mission of bringing people together for a better world and having a local impact,” said Bryan Sullivan, general manager of Anheuser-Busch’s Baldwinsville brewery.

Anheuser-Busch Baldwinsville brewery General Manager Bryan Sullivan joined Mark Wladis, Founder of the Wladis Law Firm, Interim Superintendent of Schools Jaime Alicea and Michael Sattler, Vice Chair of the SCSD Educational Foundation for the check presentation on Friday, October 14th.  The event took place in the Board of Education Room (725 Harrison St.) at 2:00 PM.

Syracuse City School District Host 9th Annual Vex Robotics Competition

SCSD VEX Competition 2014The Syracuse City School District hosts the 9th Annual Vex Competition on October 29th, making it the longest-run Vex event in New York State.

About 100 students competed from Corcoran, Nottingham, Fowler/PSLA and HW Smith, as well as Fulton, Chittenango, Rome, Oswego, Sandy Creek and Northwood (Lake Placid). As part of the Vex Robotics Competition ‘Starstruck,’ students competed in teams to use their robot to outscore an opposing team by scoring ‘star’ and ‘cube’ objects in different zones and hanging ‘robots’ on a hanging bar on a 12 x 12 foot field.

The competition was held at the Nottingham High School (3100 E. Genesee Street) gymnasium on Saturday, October 29th beginning at 8:30 am.

Public Hearing on Renewal Application for the Syracuse Academy of Science Charter School

The Syracuse City School District will hold a public hearing to solicit comments from the community in connection with the foregoing renewal application for the Syracuse Academy of Science Charter School. The hearing will be held at 725 Harrison St. in the Board of Education’s main board room on Wednesday, November 2nd – 5-6:00pm. The hearing is open to the public and is an opportunity to solicit comments from the community regarding the renewal application

Public Hearing on Renewal Application for the Southside Academy Charter School

The Syracuse City School District will hold a public hearing to solicit comments from the community in connection with the foregoing renewal application for the Southside Academy Charter School. The hearing will be held at 725 Harrison St. in the Board of Education’s main board room on Monday, November 7th – 5-6:00pm. The hearing is open to the public and is an opportunity to solicit comments from the community regarding the renewal application.
